This policy explains what information Keep Chicagoland Moving (keepchicagolandmoving.com), a publication owned and operated by TAK Marketing, LLC, collects and how it is used. Short version: we collect very little, and most data collection here is the standard analytics and advertising described below.
What we collect
Contact form. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit. We use it only to respond to you.
Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the form plus your IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection. A hashed version of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check for a profile picture.
Analytics. We use Clicky and StatCounter to understand aggregate traffic — pages visited, referrers, approximate location, device type. These services set cookies and process your IP address and device information as described in their own policies; we work from the aggregate reports.
Advertising. The Site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites; its use of data is governed by Google’s advertising policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and from other participating companies at aboutads.info.
Embedded content. Articles may embed content from other sites (for example, YouTube videos or maps). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that site directly and may set its own cookies and collect data.
How long we keep data
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized. Analytics data is retained by our analytics providers per their policies.
Your rights
If you have left comments or contacted us, you can request an export of the personal data we hold about you, or ask that we delete it (except data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons). Contact us to make a request.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal information for money. Visitor data flows to the providers that help operate the Site — hosting (Hostinger), analytics, and spam protection — and, separately, to Google AdSense as described above; to the Gravatar service for commenters; and to embedded-content providers (such as YouTube) when you load a page containing their embeds. The opt-out links above set advertising preferences with participating companies; they are not a substitute for a privacy-rights request under applicable law, which you can make through the contact page.
